AAP POLICY ON SIDS PROMOTES INFANT AND BABY PACIFIER USE (see Nuby)

In a recent article by Heidi Splete in Washington, DC, there were recommendations made that parents "should offer pacifiers to all infants up to one year of age when putting them on their backs to sleep to reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome, or SIDS. This is according to an updated policy statement from the American Academy of Pediatrics."

According to the policy statement, and at a recent meeting of the AAP, Dr. John Kattwinkel stated that six studies found that using a pacifier significantly lowers the risk of SIDS.

This is a very important statement for parents to consider. Baby pacifier use does not hurt your baby, but now there are more studies being conducted that indicate that you may be able to help prevent SIDS by simply allowing your infant to use a baby pacifier.
